Victoria "Vicky" Lynn (Ma) MacKinnon

Victoria “Vicky” Lynn MacKinnon, 53, of Bemidji passed away suddenly and quite unexpectedly Saturday morning, February 23, 2019, at her home.

Vicky was born June 12, 1965, in Groton, Massachusetts, to Ray and Virginia (Hylton) MacKinnon, during her father’s tour of duty at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. She was the youngest of five siblings. Growing up as a daughter of a career Army officer, Vicky had the opportunity to travel throughout the US with her family. She lived in not only Massachusetts, but in Florida, Hawaii, Kansas and Maryland.

Always a yuckster, Vicky made friends easily and was determined to hold them close. A cancer survivor herself, Vicky was quick to offer words of hope and encouragement to anyone she knew who was suffering or in need. Love for family and friends was at her core. To a family member undergoing prolonged treatments for cancer, Vicky would send a message of hope and encouragement before each session. As a lifelong animal lover, she was happiest with a furry companion by her side. Every September, we celebrated with her one of her proudest achievements: sobriety. She had surpassed 16 years before her untimely death.

Vicky would want it known she thoroughly enjoyed her work and co-workers at InHarvest of Bemidji.  She loved the camaraderie and support of her work family.

Preceded in death by her father, her sister Terry, and her brothers-in-law Buddy and Doug, Vicky is survived and greatly missed by her mother Virginia and her sister Christine Zukeran of Bemidji, her sister Beverly Teal of Hampstead, Maryland, and her brother Don (Amanda) MacKinnon of Bemidji, her nieces Melody, Cheri (Wayne), Brittany and Erika, her nephews Steven, Daniel and Jonathan, her great-nieces Morgan and Ellie, great-nephews Charlie and Mason, and her best buddy Angus.

Private inurnment will be in the spring in Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Olson Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bemidij.
