Vera Alice (Hunn) Weis

Vera Alice Weis, 93, of Bemidji, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, at Northern Lakes Senior Living in Baxter, MN.

Vera was born April 24, 1931 in Guthrie, MN, the middle child of Orrin Leroy and Cecil Olive (Webster) Hunn. She moved to Bemidji as a child and remained a devoted resident. On April 13, 1957, Vera married Jacob Weis in Fergus Falls, MN. Vera dedicated her career to education, serving as an elementary school secretary in Bemidji schools from 1949 to 1992, first at Central Elementary and later at Northern Elementary. Her commitment to her community continued beyond her retirement; for over two decades she worked for Beltrami County serving as a court bailiff.

Vera enjoyed golfing, was active in the Lions Club and First Presbyterian Church, and was a loyal Minnesota Twins fan. She was always willing to help those she loved and was a treasured friend to many.

Vera is survived by her nieces, Arlene (Brad) Forrest of Edina, MN, Kirsten (Paul) Hofmann of Baxter, MN, and by great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jacob Weis, and her sisters, Clarice Whitman and Leah Clementson.

Vera will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and service to both her family and community. She leaves behind cherished memories among her loved ones. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
