Theresa Mae St. Onge died September 7, 2024, in her home in Bemidji, Mn.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday September 12th at 11 am at St. Philips Catholic Church in Bemidji, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be 2 pm Friday September 13th at Saint John’s Abby Cemetery in Collegeville, MN.

Theresa was born November 23, 1936, in Minto, North Dakota to Edward and Amelia Lizakowski. She attended grade school and graduated high school in Minto, ND.1954, graduated from the University of North Dakota with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.1958. Theresa worked at the Grand Forks hospital for two years. She married her college sweetheart Douglas James St. Onge on Sept 13, 1958. They moved to Bemidji, Minnesota where she worked for the Minnesota Department of Health as a Registered Nurse and later went on to become a nursing coordinator for the Minnesota department of Health covering the northern territory for forty years. “Terre” was a lead person in implementing the Bachelor of Science Nursing Program at BSU. She was also instrumental in starting a scholarship for nursing students at BSU called “Nursing Helping Nurses”. These programs have and will have affected the lives of many nurses in the area.

 Theresa enjoyed many hobbies and was loved and appreciated by her many friends and colleagues. She had a friendly, welcoming caring nature that was infectious and a shining light for all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Theresa is survived by her six children: Benedict (Faye) St. Onge of San Marcos, CA, Monica (Bruce) Landfield of Yorba Linda, CA, Susanna (Michael) Wildt of Surfside Beach, SC, Rebecca St. Onge of Marblehead, MA, Paul (Heather) St. Onge of Bemidji, MN, and Joseph St. Onge of Bemidji, MN.

14 Grandchildren: Michael (Coral) St. Onge, Matthew (Sydney) St. Onge, Nicole Landfield, Kaitlyn (Kyle ) Sullivan, Cameron Landfield, Sarah Thomas, Abigail Thomas, Derek St. Onge, Adam (Abby) St. Onge, Emily St. Onge, Ethan Oakes, Genevieve Oakes, Ethan St. Onge, Justin St. Onge, and one great granddaughter Ezra Nipstad.

Also survived by one sister Eunice (Pete) Kuhn of Grand Forks, ND, and sister-in law Charlene Lizakowski of Tucson, AZ.

Theresa is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas,  her parents, Edward and Amelia Lizakowski, one brother Rudy Lizakowski, two sisters, Rita (Roland) Burr, and Janice (George) Coffey,
