Steven Allen Stortroen

Steven Allen Stortroen, born April 28, 1949, passed away June 2, 2020 at the Sanford Center in Bemidji. The son of Lane and Lois Stortroen, Steven grew up in Bemidji where he lived all of his life. He graduated from Bemidji High School in 1968 and also attended Bemidji Technical College. Steve drove school bus first for his father and then for the Bemidji School District. Steven was also a volunteer for the Bemidji Fire Department for many years. He enjoyed being with his family, deer hunting, gardening, playing cards and his dogs. Steven loved people and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He will be missed by his sister Mary Marana, Baxter, niece Lane (Shane) Fisher, Baxter, nephew Justin (Crystal) Sterner, Prior Lake. Great nieces Annabel and Autumn Sterner and Lydia Fisher. Great nephews Milo Sterner and Samuel Fisher. Steven was preceded in death by his parents Lane and Lois Stortroen. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, and an intimate burial service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Bemidji. The arrangements for Steven are in the care of Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home of Bemidji. The family would like to thank the staff of Sanford Bemidji Medical Center for the care given to Steven in his final hours of life.
