Steve McLean, 65, of Bemidji, MN died on December 6, 2021, at Sanford Bemidji, after a courageous battle with Lung Cancer.
Steve was born at Evergreen Park, Illinois on November 5, 1956, the son of William (Bill) and Jane (Winks) McLean. While growing up, Steve lived with his family in Illinois before moving to Grand Forks, ND and then to Bemidji, where Steve graduated from high school in 1974. After graduating from the carpentry program at the Bemidji Area Vocational Technical Institute, he worked with various contractors over many years in the Bemidji area. He worked for a short time in Las Vegas and Washington state but returned to Bemidji where he lived most of his life.
Steve will be remembered for his easy-going and honest manner, independent nature, and love of fishing. Never one to bother anyone, Steve was private about his health condition.
He was preceded by his father William and too many good friends. He will be missed by his sister, Sue Carstens (John) of Roseau, brothers Scott (Saundra) of Bemidji and Bruce of St. Paul, many nieces and nephews, and good friends.
Steve’s family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and all staff at Sanford Medical Center who kept Steve as comfortable as possible during his final days.
