Shirley Ann Hoem Binkert was born January 27, 1940 in Bemidji to John and Theoline (Thompson) Hoem, 83, of Bemidji/Nymore entered into eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Havenwood Care Center, Bemidji.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Bemidji.
Shirley was born and grew up in Nymore and attended Lincoln Elementary School and Bemidji High School. On July 5, 1963 she married Ronald Binkert in Bemidji. Through the years of their marriage, they lived in Jackson, MN, Crookston, Anoka and Thief River Falls, finally making their home in Bemidji in 1975. Shirley worked over the years cleaning cabins at Tabors, babysitting and cleaning homes. She worked at CoreCraft, worked in the kitchen at Thief River Falls Elementary School. Upon moving back to Bemidji, she worked cleaning homes and retired in 2008 after 15 years cleaning at Red Pine Apartments. In 2016 Shirley moved to Havenwood Care Center. Shirley was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2007. Shirley enjoyed baking, playing solitaire on the computer, gardening, planting and having friends and family over for coffee. She was a member of the Bemidji Citizens Patrol and Paul Bunyan Radio Club. She was a licensed Ham Radio Operator. She assisted her husband Ron for 7 years with in home Bible Study. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior in 1972. She attended Calvary Lutheran Church for many years and the First Assembly of God church for many years. Shirley lovingly cared for her husband Ron who is disabled from arthritis for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Ron; daughters, Tami Binkert and Michelle (Raymond) Morris; grandchildren, Joshua, Nathan, Justin and Kayla and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Ayden and Noella.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clarence, John and David Hoem and sisters, Karen, Doris and Elaine.
