Sarah Diehl, 68, of Tenstrike, MN died Saturday, January 11, 2020 at her home.
Memorial Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 17, 2020 at Evangelical Covenant Church, Bemidji with Pastor Doug Giese officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Sarah Lynn Hunsucker was born September 26, 1951 in Kansas City, Kansas to James and Shirley Hunsucker. She grew up in Roeland Park, KS and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1969. She married her high school sweetheart Paul Diehl on May 22, 1971 in the Village Presbyterian Church, Prairie Village, KS. She then attended Kansas State University where she earned a BS in elementary education. Sarah taught for a couple of years until her daughter Laurie and son Jamie were born. They moved to Overland Park and lived there for 27 years. While there, she attained a master’s degree in social work from the University of Kansas in 1991 and would begin her work that same year. In 2006 Sarah and Paul moved to the Bemidji area and in 2014 Sarah retired. Sarah was a giver her entire life in her time, love and energy. She enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, decorating, watching sporting events and organizing. Sarah especially enjoyed time on Star Island, in Cass Lake, MN with her immediate family. She was the biggest cheerleader to her children, grandchildren and family. Sarah enjoyed frequent trips back to Kansas to share time with her grandchildren and to visit her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Paul; mother, Shirley; daughter, Laurie (Dan) Komnik; son, Jamie (Kendra) Diehl and 4 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father; stepfather and 2 brothers.
Memorials are preferred to the Evangelical Covenant Church in the name of the Sarah Diehl Memorial Fund.
