Ruth Barden, 101 of Menahga, MN formerly of Bemidji died October 14, 2022 at Heritage Living Center, Park Rapids,
Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2022 at First Lutheran Church, Bemidji. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji.
Ruth was born in New York Mills to Ray and Elizabeth Galbraith. She attended country school and graduated from New York Mills High School. She went to work at Munsingwear in Minneapolis where she met and married Kenneth Larson, who she lost in WWII. To this union her daughter, Ranell was born. After the war, she reconnected with her high school sweetheart Thomas Barden and they were married in New York Mills on March 6, 1947. To this union Michael and Johnny were born. They moved to Bemidji in 1957. She stayed home to raise her children and later had a job in food service for Central Elementary School. Ruth and Tom had many happy years in Bemidji. They loved to travel and go camping throughout the state and the western US. Her family, friends, church and work have always been a big part of her life. Ruth says she was truly blessed.
She is survived by daughter, Ranell (Curt) Johnson of Menahga; son, Michael (Andrea) Barden of Hallowell, ME; grandchildren, Robert Johnson, Derek (Megan) Johnson, Alexina Barden and Erika Barden and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, Thomas Barden; son, Johnny Barden; parents, Ray and Elizabeth Galbraith; sister, Dorothy Pernula and brother, Richard Galbraith.
