Roland Carl “Rollie” Bitzer, 96, of Bemidji, MN, died Thursday, November 13, 2025 in St. Cloud, MN.
Inurnment will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 26, 2026 in Holy Cross Cemetery, Bemidji, Minn.
Arrangements are entrusted with the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, Minn.
Roland Carl Bitzer was born December 30, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio to Hugo and Anny (Schmid) Bitzer. He grew up in Ohio and graduated from Parma High School in 1946. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a painter for 45 years retiring in 1998. On August 22, 1983 he married Darlene Klasen Bitzer in Bemidji, Minn. He owned and operated Wolfview Resort from 1962 – 1969. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, gardening, watching TV especially Nascar. He was a painter for 40 years in the Bemidji area.
He is survived by his son, Hugo (Christie Kaehn) Bitzer; Eden Prairie, Minn; daughters, Gretchen (Dr. Charles) Heinberg, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kristina (Joe Weeks) Bitzer, Peoria, Arizona and Trudi (Howard Leathers) Bitzer, Duluth, Minn; step-sons, Bradley Tisdell, Missoula, Montana; Randy (Wendy) Tisdell, Bemidji, Minn., and David (Linda Helgesen) Tisdell, Bemidji, Minn.; step-daughter, Cindy (Norm Stubbs) Tisdell of Walker, Minn.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; step grandchildren and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugo and Anny Bitzer; wife, Darlene; daughter, Heidi McClure and sister Ruth Chrostowski.
The family prefers memorials to St. Philips Catholic School or charity of donors choice.
