Roger Kevin Goranson, 65, of Bemidji, MN died Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life will be 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2023 at the Northern Town Hall.
Roger Kevin Goranson was born April 19, 1957 in Blackduck to Rudolph and Alma (Murphy) Goranson. He lived with his family in Kelliher until the age of 10 when they moved to Bemidji. Roger graduated from Bemidji High School in 1976. He was very active in many organizations in town. He was called Big Rog by those that knew him. He was a big man, always ready to help when called upon. Roger won several awards in Special Olympics, Fishing Has No Boundaries. He won first place awards many times. Sunday was Bemidji Speedway night. Roger was there to cheer along his favorite driver and car. He liked deer hunting and camping with his brothers and friends. Roger was a gentle giant with a heart full of caring for others. Along with his great sense of humor. He will be missed by those that loved and knew him.
He is survived by brothers Richard (Joan) Goranson of Bemidji and Robert (Jan) Goranson of Brooklyn Park; sister, Edith Nelson of Georgetown, KY; brother-in-law, David Karpinske of Ramsey and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Rudolph Goranson and Alma Jane Murphy Goranson; and sister, Susan Karpinske.
