Robert "Bob" Jay Edwards

Robert J. Edwards, 88, of Bemidji, MN died Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Wilton, MN.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Robert Jay Edwards, 88, was born at home on October 20, 1935 to Jay and Laura Edwards.  He attended school at Rockwood’s one room School and then went to Bemidji High School.    He worked at a variety of jobs in Bemidji. 

He met the love of his life, Alys Ann Schmitt, and they were married at Sacred Heart Church in Wilton on May 31, 1958.  They moved to Aurora, MN where Robert worked at Hibbings Taconite Mine for two years returning to Bemidji where he started farming with his parents on the family farm in 1960.  Robert bought the farm from his parents and lived there the rest of his life.

Robert worked as a mechanic at Thorson, Inc.  He was a Member of the Bemidji Cooperative Board and served on the School Board.

Robert is survived by his wife, Alys Ann, three sons, Blake (Patsy), Brad (Jeanette), Brian (Corrine), three grandchildren Jason (Amanda) of Bloomington, IL, Kelly of Round Rock, TX and Caryn of Round Rock, TX, three great-grandchildren Jordan Covan of College Station, TX, Whitney and Leia of Bloomington, IL.

Robert is proceeded in death by his parents Jay and Laura Edwards, grandchild Trisha Edwards, brother Vernon and his wife Doris Edwards, his sister Leora and her husband Lloyd Delaney.
