Robert Oren Boyd

Robert  (Bob) Oren Boyd SR, age 87 of Bemidji, MN died peacefully November 25th, 2024, at Neilson Place in Bemidji with family by his side.

A Time of Sharing will be 1:00 p.m.3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji.

Robert was born on August 29, 1937, in Oakes, ND to Homer and Ivas (Brown) Boyd. He attended a county school near his home. As a younger teenager he started working in the woods near Lake Alice. He later worked for a short time on the iron range where he built houses.  The passion of being a lumberjack stayed with him as he worked for White Brothers Logging and Olson Logging for many years in the Bemidji area. As his body told him to hang up the chainsaw he began driving truck. He worked for CD Haugen in Bemidji and later moved to RDO in Park Rapids until he retired. He married Patricia Geller November 28, 1964. That marriage blessed Bob with four children:  Jody, Bobby, Jane, and Stacy.   Bob enjoyed fishing for smelt, playing cards at Gene’s Place, watching the birds, pulling tabs, and drinking beer.   He was a man of few words but full of wisdom.  He loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren deeply.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Jody (Andy) Yerbich of Bemidji, Robert Jr (Janet) Boyd of Luverne, Jane (Jerry) Messner of Bemidji, and Stacy (Ben) Trask of Bemidji.
Six dearly loved grandchildren: Kurt, Steve (Sara), Scott, Sara (Luke), Kylie and Raelynn.
Nine precious great grandchildren:  Kaden, Matthew, Briella, Macy, Jaxon, Jacob, Tucker, Sadie, and Ellie. Siblings Ethel Knowles of Park Rapids, Carl Boyd of Osage, and Judy (Jim) Parr of Washington State, Sister-in-Law Pat Boyd of Osage along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings: Elanor Hetrick, Jo Breitbach, Vera Gails, James Boyd, Alvin Boyd, Eugene Boyd, Floyd Boyd, Eunice Boyd, and Dale Boyd. Brother-in-law Dennis Knowles, Sisters-in-law Marge, Lorna, and Marcy Boyd and a nephew Roger Boyd.
