Ray Suther, 87, of Bemidji, MN passed away peacefully at Havenwood Care Center, Bemidji Friday, October 10, 2025.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Bethel Lutheran Church, Bemidji. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Zion Memorial Cemetery, Hart Lake Township, Hubbard County.
Ray was born February 12, 1938 to Oscar and Ellen Suther in Cass Lake. He attended Farris country school, graduated in 1956 from Cass Lake High School. He was point guard, lettering all years of high school on the basketball team. Ray worked at the Wheeler lumbermill in Cass Lake after high school in 1957. He went on taking and completing courses in electronics from DeVry Technical Institute, achieving his Associates Diploma. Ray met and married Violet (Sletten) August 23, 1958.
They moved to Mahnomen where he worked at Nelson’s TV Repair for 4 years. They moved to Park Rapids in 1961 to work for Griffins Radio and TV. August of 1971 we moved to Bemidji where Ray made a career with Sears Roebuck & Company, repairing and installing household appliances and equipment.
In retirement Ray loved to work in his yard, gardens, and his shop. Ray restored his dad’s 1952 Farmall H Tractor to almost original condition. He loved and cherished his time spent with his grand and great-grandchildren.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
His is survived by his wife Violet; son Dean (Robin) Suther, granddaughters, Tara (Marcus) Weidner and Tiffany Suther; daughter, Jodi Zimmerman, granddaughter Teegan (Nick) Schroeder; son Dale Suther, granddaughter Kiana Suther, grandson, Zachary (Sara) Suther; daughter Janice (John) Moberg, granddaughters Maja & Svea Moberg, 8 great-grandchildren and several relatives in Sweden.
The family would like to thank and give blessing onto the entire staff at the Havenwood Care Center for the loving care they provided to Ray.
