Phyllis Bunker, 94, of Laporte, MN died Wednesday, January 3, 2024 in Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Laporte. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Phyllis Darleen Meads Lindahl Bunker was born December 13, 1929 in Lakeport Township to Stanley and Ruth (Morrill) Meads. She attended school at Laporte Consolidated for 12 years, graduated in 1947, and attended Bemidji State Teachers College for one year. She was united in marriage to Dick Lindahl October 18, 1948 in Trinity Lutheran Church of Laporte. They moved to Gary, IN and lived in that vicinity for 11 years, returning to the Laporte area in 1959. While in Indiana, four children were born, Richard, Eileen, Pamela, and Donna. Two more children were born in Minnesota, Stanley and Linnaea. The marriage ended in 1969. Phyllis married Delano Bunker and became step-mother of Harland, Michael, and Mindy. They continued living in the Laporte area, where she was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Legion Auxiliary, past member of the Laporte-Benedict Lion’s Club, Social member of the Royal Neighbor’s of America, volunteer for NIVCP and manager for the Laporte Community Food Shelf (originally the Trinity Lutheran Food Shelf). For a few years she drove a mail contract route.
Left behind: children, Eileen (Loren) Little, Pamela Lindahl, Stanley (Breanne) Lindahl and Linnaea (Nate) Lindahl; stepchildren, Harland (Kay) Bunker and Mindy (George) Taylor; daughter-in-law, Myra Lindahl; son-in-law, John Everson; 29 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, Stanley and Ruth Meads; husband, Delano; son, Richard Lindahl; daughter, Donna (Wilson) Everson; Grandson, Kevin Wilson; stepson, Michael Bunker; brothers, Arnold Meads and Earl Meads and sister, Donna Gwynn.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.
