Olive Norma (Hennager) Sperling

Olive Sperling, 90, of Bemidji, MN died Oct. 11, 2025 at Gold Pine, Bemidji, MN.

Funeral Service will be Oct. 16, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, MN with Pastor Jeremiah Holst officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Clearwater Lutheran Cemetery, Shevlin, MN

Olive Sperling was born January 18, 1935 in Fertile, MN to Earl and Nettie (Dale) Hennager. She was married to Allan Reese from June 24, 1951 to 1976.  She got her GED in 1964 so she could go to LPN school.  She went to St. Francis School of Nursing in Crookston, MN, from August 1964 to August 1965.  She worked at the Grand Forks, ND hospital for several years.  Then she worked at Nursing Homes in East Grand Forks, MN and Crookston, MN for several years.  She was a seamstress in Grand Forks for many years, some of those years out of her home.  She married James Sperling in Grand Forks, June 4th, 1977.  They moved to Bemidji in 1994 to be closer to family.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, making quilts for “every” member of her family and going to the casino to play bingo.

Olive is survived by her children: Connie (Kent) Barcus, Bemidji, MN; Duane (Wendy) Reese, Panama City Beach, Fl.; 8 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren;  6 Great Great Grandchildren and many neices and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 Brothers Virgil, John, George; 2 Sisters, Edna, Christine; Husband, James Sperling; Daughter, Joyce Hoffman and 2 Grandsons, Brandon Reese, Chad Westrum.
