Norene Esther (Kaasa) Sys

Norene Esther Sys, 61, passed away on October 24, 2022 after complications from open heart surgery.

Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the Port Hope Township Hall.

Norene was born March 29, 1961 to Eivind LeRoy and Grace Alvina (Holey) Kaasa. Her childhood was spent in Nebish and Puposky. She attended Pleasant Valley School in Nebish and then Bemidji High School. She had 3 children, Lisa (Dion Biggers) Kaasa of Ada, Grace (Andy) Nissen of Blackduck and Benjamin Preston of Hines. Norene was a stay at home mother to her children most of their childhood. Norene met Terry Vaughn Sys the summer of 1995 when he moved in as her neighbor. They married November 1, 1999 at Lakewood Community Church, which brought three more children, Jessica (Nic) Delaney of Shevlin, Wayne (Jenny Bauer) Sys of Becida and Heather (Jimmy) Gray of Fosston. When the children were older, Norene worked as a CNA in Blackduck, Anderson Fabrics, a PCA for her grandchildren and the last 7 years as a caregiver at the Clubb House. Norene loved time with family, sewing, gardening and many other crafts.

Norene is survived by her husband, Terry Sys; brothers, Leon (Julie Prince) Kaasa and David (Brandy) Kaasa; sister, Laurie (Leslie) Prince; her children and step-children; 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her grandparents; parents and brother, Dale Kaasa.
