Milo "Mike" Mostad Obituary

Milo “Mike” Morris Mostad, born January 5, 1937, in Saum, Minnesota, to Raymond and Bernice Mostad, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 19, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was 88 years old.

Memorial Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Bemidji on November 1, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., with visitation beginning an hour prior. He will be laid to rest at Frohn Eastside Cemetery.

Milo was a master electrician and proud union member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). He found great satisfaction in working on large industrial projects, where he was challenged and could apply his skill, precision, and problem-solving abilities. His dedication to his craft and his work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues and peers throughout his career.

He was also a man deeply rooted in the outdoors and the traditions of northern Minnesota. His love for nature was evident in his lifelong passion for deer and grouse hunting in Saum, where he found joy and solace in the woods he knew so well. He was an avid planner of hunting trips out west and fishing adventures in Canada, always eager to share the experience with family and friends.

When Milo was not out hunting or fishing, he loved to take his wife, Linnea, out dancing, especially when his siblings’ old-time country band, The Country Gents, was playing. He was out on the dance floor anytime an old-time polka played so he could double-step his way around the other dancers.

Milo is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Linnea, whose partnership and love were the cornerstone of his life. Together they raised two children: Kristin (Tony) Sundgaard and Ray (Jenny Streefland) Mostad; grandchildren, Brynn Sundgaard, Cade Sundgaard, Grace Mostad and Ben Mostad; his sisters and brothers, Marlene (Jack) Stomberg, Gary Mostad, Stephen (Gay) Mostad, Diane Mostad (David Berg), and Phillip (Kathy) Mostad, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Baby Milo.

His family carries forward his legacy of warmth, storytelling, resilience, and appreciation for the natural world.

He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his deep love for family, his intelligence, and the stories he shared around campfires and kitchen tables. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the places he cherished.
