Michael Huber Obituary

Michael Huber, age 79, of Lake George, MN, and formerly of Bemidji, MN, passed away on Friday, November 29th, surrounded by family at Essentia Health Hospital in Fargo, ND.

A Celebration of Life will be 1-5 p.m. , Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the Lake George Community Park.

Michael John Huber was born on September 23, 1945, in Long Prairie, Minnesota to parents Henry and Minnie (Gaulke) Huber. He attended grade school in Long Prairie and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1963. He married Bette Krech on November 16, 1963. To this union, three children were born, Michael, Carmen and David. They raised their family in Bemidji and Mike worked in the Water Department with the City of Bemidji. Bette passed away on November 26, 1991.

Mike met Dorothea Reller in 1993 and they were married on February 15, 1997. To this marriage, Mike gained an extended family, adding Dorothea’s children, Steven, Connie and Donna. Mike and Dorothea lived in Bemidji until retirement and then moved to Lake George to a property that they had purchased in 1997. Mike worked for the City of Bemidji for 35 years.

Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, painting, gardening, and feeding the deer. He liked anything to do with being outdoors. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was also a past member of the Eagle’s Club.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothea, of Lake George, MN; three children, Michael (Kathy) Huber of Becida, MN, Carmen (Rod) Vaillancourt of Youngstown, OH, and David (Carmen) Huber of LaPorte, MN; 8 grandchildren, Lisa, Corey, Brett, Melissa, Chelsey, Madison, Jaymie, and Margaret; and 9 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers, Henry “Lowell” Huber (Kathy) of Rochester, MN, Charlie (Nancy) Huber of Finlayson, MN, and Richard (Linda) Huber of Bemidji, MN; two sisters, Roxanne (Dave) Schumacher of Detroit Lakes, MN and Roslyn “Sam” (Jon) Huffman of Bemidji, MN; blood brother, Brent Thompton of Blackduck, MN; two step-children, Steven Johnson of Twin Valley, MN, and Connie Johnson of Bagley, MN. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Bette; and step-daughter, Donna.
