Mary Jae Schmickle

Mary Jae Schmickle passed away peacefully at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center on February 14, 2024 after a short illness, on one of her favorite days of the year, Valentines Day.

Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 23, 2024 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Bemidji at a later date.

Mary was born on November 12, 1951 to Anna Mara (Fischer) and Robert F. Schmickle. Mary enjoyed shopping, traveling, watching “Little House on the Prairie”, going to movies, playing bingo with her special friend, Mary Gregg, spending holidays with her nephews and their families and spending weekends with sisters Pat and Jeanne.

Mary is survived by Bobbie Mikkelsen, Patricia Schmickle, Randal Schmickle, Ronald (Candy) Schmickle, Ann (Lee) Haugen, Jeanne Zimmerman, Peggy Schmickle, her special sister, sherry Schmickle and by many friends at REM Miles.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Roger.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to many caregivers over the years that have provided her with such wonderful care. She will be deeply missed by family, friends and those who were blessed to know her.
