Marlene Marie Tyner, 88, of Turtle River, Minnesota passed away at Sanford Medical Center on Friday January 13th. She has resided at Sanford Woodsedge Trillium Memory Care since May 2019. Her life began in Warren Minnesota, then living in Thief River Falls, Plymouth and finally Turtle River Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held Saturday January 21st at the Blackduck Evangelical Free Church, visitation starting at 2:00 PM followed by the service at 3:00 PM. Lunch will be served following the service. Interment will be held in the spring at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Turtle River.
Marlene was born to Axel and Olga Larson on May 3rd, 1934. After graduation from Warren High School she commenced her life’s work with North Western Bell Telephone Co. as an operator. This was back in the day, if you remember,when you lifted the phone and the operator said “Number Please!”. How things have changed! Marlene retired the the phone company in her early sixties as a maintenance administrator. While living in Thief River Falls she met Richard Tyner in 1968 and was married in 1970 at the Thief River Falls Evangelical Free Church. Marlene loved going to their cabin on Lake Beltrami. While there she enjoyed boat rides, watching birds and wild life. One of her favorites were the many little chipmunks that would take peanuts from her hand. She cared deeply for the dogs she had throughout her life time. Known for laughing, telling stories, and watching the Vikings games were one of her favorite pastimes. She delighted in serving big holiday meals and family get-togethers along with her famous chocolate chip cookies.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Richard Tyner, daughters Kim (David) Parnell and Melanie Duclos, and sister LaVonne Anderson, brother Rodney Larson, sister in-law Vicky Larson and and four grandchildren. Josh Neil,Zach Parnell, Alex Parnell, Madeline Duclos. and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Axel and Olga Larson, and her parents in-law Frank and Ceola “Frosty” Tyner. Brother Loren Larson, brother-in-law Lowell Anderson and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
The family wishes to thank the staff and nurses at Trillium for the exceptional loving care they provided, not only for Marlene but for the family.
