Mark "Gus" David Wilander

Mark “Gus” Wilander, 61, of Bemidji, MN died Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at his home.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 2, 2024 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m., Sunday, September 1, 2024 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mark David Wilander was born June 30, 1963 in Bemidji to David and Bonnie (Watkins) Wilander. He grew up in Becida and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1981. After graduating, he attended Detroit Lakes Vo-Tech for diesel mechanic. He then went to work logging for Ronnie Schlee. Gus worked at Culligan in Bemidji from 1991 to 2009 and then Bemidji State University in 2013 were he was currently working. On October 2, 1993 he married Theresa Lisak at the Becida Community Church. Gus loved farming, fishing, golfing, snowmobiling, motorcycling and hunting with his sons, uncles and cousins. Later in life he enjoyed woodworking. Gus always had a safe place in his home for his wayward friends. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Liam.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa; sons, Brandon (Katie) Granmo, Ben (Ally) Wilander and Brody (Madisen) Wilander; 1 grandson, Liam Granmo; sisters, Annette (Scott) Tammaro and Sara (Brent) Lusignan and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Rory Jude Wilander; nephew, Tony Tammaro and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
