Mark Harlan Olson

Mark Harlan Olson, 61, of Bemidji, passed away on May 4, 2026.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Bemidji Eagles Club.

He was born on August 13, 1964, in Park Rapids, Minnesota, the youngest of four children to Verlyn and Carole Olson. Mark spent much of his childhood on the family farm in Laporte, Minnesota, where he learned the value of hard work and developed a lifelong connection to the outdoors. He dedicated over 35 years of his life as a delimber operator, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family. Mark took pride in his work and the life he built through it. In his free time, Mark enjoyed going to the casino and unwinding in his own way. In his earlier years, some of his most treasured moments were spent with his children, taking them on their first hunting and fishing trips, creating lasting memories and a shared love of the outdoors.

Mark is survived by his children: Shyanna Braman (Jesse), Verlyn Olson, Jason Braman (Rachel), and Jay Weber; his grandchildren: Ogema, Emilio, Austin, Natalie, and Aubree, Hailson, Sophia, Ivy, Noah and Henry. His siblings: Carla (Rick), Linda, and David (Alice); as well as his niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Verlyn and Carole Olson, and (sister) Amy Sue.

Mark will be remembered for his hard work, his quiet strength, and the time he shared with those closest to him. He will be deeply missed.
