Marjorie "Marge" Jane (Johnson) Orgon

Marjorie (Marge) Orgon, 87, died at Sanford Neilson Place, on Saturday, August 30, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 5, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bemidji, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements through Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home in Bemidji.

Marge was born at home in Iowa to Gerhard C. Johnson and Mildred C. (Pletcher) Johnson on October 21, 1937. She was the first daughter, with older brothers William, Gerald, and Merle followed by siblings Marie, Roger, and Doryce. 

Marge was a country girl, growing up in overalls and bare feet. She had many stories of sibling adventures roaming the areas of Sauk Center and Corcoran, MN. The family did not have monetary riches, but were blessed with shared closeness lasting into adulthood. She graduated Valedictorian from Rockford High School in Minnesota in 1955, serving the class as president. She and Don attended many school reunions over the years.

Marge married Donald Orgon on August 24, 1957. They raised 4 children, Terri, Mike, Bob, and Howard. In the early years, the family lived in Brooklyn Park, Marge worked at Western Electric during and after the first two children, then stayed home to raise all four. The family relocated to Bemidji in 1967 to live among the woods and the waters. They enjoyed their cabin on Pug Hole Lake, near Cass Lake, sharing many happy days with family and friends.

In Bemidji, she met with neighboring women for coffee and chatting gatherings. She provided daycare for several neighbor children. She was involved with Frohn Township committees, especially the cemetery team. After her children were grown, she worked for Control Data, (later Nortech), for 23 years. Marge loved kids and after retirement, she volunteered at Trinity Lutheran, preparing and serving lunch for the preschool children, which was a great joy in her week.

She loved visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and proudly supported them in all their endeavors. Feeding hummingbirds was a favorite summer task and the tiny birds provided many hours of happiness. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.

Marge is survived by daughter Terri, son-in-law Dean Bentler, son Bob, and son Howard, wife Karen. Grandchildren Sara Zimmerman, Carrie Howard, husband Ross, Alex Orgon and Brittany Hanson, Casey Orgon, wife Laura, Tyler Orgon, Caitlin Orgon, and Jared Orgon. Great-grandchildren Conor and Evi Stodgell, Abby and Izzy Orgon, Elsi and Brynn Orgon. She was predeceased by her husband Don, son Mike, parents, brothers, sister Marie.
