Marilyn Julia (Monson) Workman

Marilyn Workman, 93, of Bemidji, MN died Thursday, May 21, 2026, at GoldPine Home, Bemidji.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2026, at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Trinity Free Lutheran Cemetery, Bemidji.

Marilyn Julia Monson was born October 7, 1932, in Sharon, ND to Truman and Mildred (Gustafson) Monson. She lived in North Dakota until she was 7 years old when they moved to the Bemidji area. Marilyn attended school in Bemidji. On December 24, 1950, she married John Workman. They lived in Bemidji until 1964 when they moved to the Puposky area. Marilyn worked at the David Park Creamery for 4 years and Minnesota Wood Products for many seasons making Cedar sprays. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, and reading. Marilyn enjoyed her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and going to music nights at the Pony Lake Church. John died in 1996 after 46 years together.

She is survived by her children, John (Shirley) Workman of Bemidji, James (Nancy) Workman of Bemidji, Trudy Helberg of Chisholm, and Jeffrey (Carrie) Workman of Thornton, Colorado; son-in-law, Michael Doyle of Bemidji; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Beverly (Wendell) Knutson, Judy Schummer and Nancy (Wilber) Powell and sister-in-law, Mary Kay Newby.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; mother, Mildred (Albert) Baumgart; father, Truman (Vera) Monson; daughter, Deb Workman Doyle; granddaughter, Sonja Workman Wolf and sisters, Barb Knutson and Kay Johnson.
