Marian Elizabeth (Anderson) Blehm, 96, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2020 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center with her daughter Bunny at her side.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Bethel Lutheran Church, Bemidji with Pastor Mark Kindem officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. She will be buried next to her beloved husband at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Marian was born February 16, 1923 in Lake Bronson, MN to Axel and Carrie (Ristad) Anderson. She grew up and graduated from high school in Lake Bronson. She married Howard Blehm on May 15, 1943. He passed away in 2013, just two months before their 70th anniversary. She loved her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. Besides her immediate family, extended family and friends were always welcome in her home. Her Christian faith was of great importance, being involved in her church whether it be Augustana Lutheran in Grand Forks, Messiah Lutheran in Fargo, Augustana Lutheran in Lake Eunice, or Bethel Lutheran in Bemidji. When Howard retired in 1986, they enjoyed their “golden years” at their summer home on Lake Eunice and their winter retreat in Mesa, AZ. In 2004 they moved to Bemidji to be near their daughter, Bunny. Everyone knew her as a gentle, caring, unassuming, “lovely” person.
Marian is survived by her daughters: Cindy (Dick) Koons of Colorado Springs, CO and Bunny (Jerry Pickett) Howe of Bemidji; three grandsons: Scott (Crissy) Koons of Colorado Springs, Matt (Carol) Howe of Palm Desert, CA, Mitch (Theresa) Howe of Bemidji; and her granddaughter, Mindy Marie Koons of Colorado Springs. She also has seven great-granddaughters: Taylor of Bemidji, Megan, Sarah, and Emily of Colorado Springs and Colbie, Matisse, and Chase of Palm Desert: three great-grandsons: Riley of Bemidji, Shaker and Kier of Palm Desert. She is also survived by her brother, Bob (Marge) Anderson of Warroad, MN and many nieces and nephews.
She was so looking forward to being with Howard again; as well as her Mother and Dad, her three sisters, Gracie, Lyla and Lillian; two brothers, Ferdie and Vernon; special nephew, Skip and many friends who preceded her to heaven.
We will greatly miss her but are comforted knowing that Jesus met her saying, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
