Margaret "Peggy" Hixon Obituary

Margaret (Peggy) Hixon passed away on September 28, 2024.

She was born December 13, 1931, in St. Louis, MO to the late Katharyn S. Randall and Ralph H. Randall. She and her husband Dwight Hixon met in their senior year of high school in Oklahoma City. Peggy attended Oklahoma State University initially and transferred to the University of Oklahoma to graduate with a degree in Home Economics. She was active in the Chi Omega Sorority. Peggy and Dwight both graduated from the University of Oklahoma and married on June 5, 1954. Dwight served on active duty with the US Air Force during the first five years of their marriage, which took them to Idaho, Florida, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where their daughter, Pam, was born. Their next stop was New Haven, CT where Dwight finished a master’s in engineering. They spent the next decade in Nashville, TN, where their son David was born. In 1968, they returned to their roots in Oklahoma City. Peggy was proud to say her career was that of Wife, Mother and Home Manager. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, drawing, watercolor, and antique collecting with Dwight, both locally and traveling to antique shows throughout the country. After her children moved away, she taught preschool at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City for ten years. In 2017, she moved to Bemidji, MN where her daughter and son-in-law live. She lived in Windsong for five years and then moved to Goldpine where she spent her last two years. Peggy was interred in Rose Hill Cemetery, Oklahoma City, OK next to her husband, Dwight.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Pam (Brian) Hudson, of Bemidji, MN; son and daughter-in-law David (Rena) Hixon, Belle Plaine, KS; grandchildren, Liz Hixon, Côte d'Ivoire, Africa, Joshua (Kara) Hixon, Wichita, KS, and Anna (Bryan) Willis of Manhattan, KS and great grandson, Fulton Dwight Willis.
