William Lyle Goins, 76, passed away on July 27th, 2026 at the Good Samaritan Society in Blackduck Minnesota.
Lyle was born on January 10th, 1950 in Lubbock, Texas to William and Martha Goins. William and Martha had twin boys Gregg and Glenn and welcomed Lyle as the baby to the family. Lyle spent his first few years abroad for his dad’s army career before the family settled in Chandler, Arizona. Lyle attended high school in Chandler and was active in football, played in a band and lived experiences later to be stories. After high school Lyle joined the army and served our country as a medic in Vietnam. He met and married Christine Louise Schoppe and moved to Alida, Minnesota where they had two children Amber Leah and Wiley. Lyle graduated college at Bemidji State University and became a 4th grade teacher for many years before getting his masters and becoming principal at Ponemah elementary. Lyle met and married Susan Olson and they had Lucas and Samuel. Lyle was extremely dedicated to his career as an educator and principal. He cared very much for all children- in his professional and personal life. Lyle loved his friends and family fiercely and was so proud of them all. His happiest times were watching his sons play sports in high school and all of the successful endeavors of his adult children and grandchildren. He was an immensely proud father, grandfather and friend. Lyle loved his dogs, traveling, storytelling, art and music and most of all laughter. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. He had so many sayings, many inappropriate but nonetheless all for the sake of hearing us laugh. Later in life, Lyle began to meditate and one of his favorite things to remind us was to be in the moment and don’t borrow trouble. He didn’t want his loved ones to worry. The hole he has left cannot be filled but with memories of the laughter and love he tried so hard to give to everyone he met.
Lyle is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gregg. He is survived by his brother Glenn of Chandler Arizona, daughter Amber Leah Goins and son Wiley Goins of Wenatchee Washington, sons Lucas Goins and Samuel Goins of Bemidji Minnesota, grandson Nathaniel Hoffert and granddaughter Lily Plunkett of Wenatchee Washington, numerous nieces and nephews and more beloved friends than can be counted.
