Luella Ardella Lindseth was born July 28, 1932 in Bismarck, ND to Marie and Harry Silverthorn. She grew up on the family farm in Lavinia by Little Bass Lake. She attended Lavinia grade school and graduated from Bemidji High School. On December 31, 1951 she married Neal Lindseth at Salem Lutheran Church in Turtle River. She was a homemaker and mother of four children. She led a busy life of cleaning, cooking, canning, gardening, sewing, picking berries, some fishing and camping. In 1974 they built a house and barn by Big Bass Lake. Baking rhubarb pies, freezing raspberries for “Gramps” (she liked strawberries better that she picked from her strawberry patch by his raspberry patch.) They were members of Calvary Lutheran for over 60 years. Many stories of ladies aide, quilting, rummage sale and lutefisk feeds with church friends. Luella served on the Turtle River Township board and election judge. After Neal’s passing in 2012 she continued doing many things outside raking, piling wood, gardening, berry picking and of course 4-wheeler rides around the field. Raining, cold winter days were spent sewing, crocheting doilies, knitting mittens and making jam, jelly, freezing hashbrowns, baking buns and cookies. Many containers of homemade chicken noodle soup (including homemade noodles), potato soup, hotdishes and of course dessert, apple was the best. Giving them to family, friends and neighbors “just because”. Fishing and camping trips with some good cards and some snacks was a great time! Granny’s last week at home she built a fire in the basement wood stove to keep her warm for 2 days while she sewed. The next day she made oatmeal raisins cookies her favorite! Reports of many deer she saw in the yard and “so many” or “not very many birds today” were given daily.

She is survived by daughter Karen (Calvin) Westlund of Cass Lake; sons, Gary Lindseth and John Lindseth both of Bemidji; 6 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; twin sister, Ardella Lindseth; brother-in-law, Al Williamson; sisters-in-law, Faye Silverthorn, Darlene (Howie) Schultz and Pauline Golden and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Neal; brothers, Virgil and Lester; sisters, Elaine, Verna, Irene, Mabel, Helen, Virginia and Carol Jean; son, Bruce; grandsons, Daniel and Travis and 2 great-granddaughters.
