Lois Luella Benson Ward, 98, of Bemidji, MN passed away peacefully Friday, September 15th at Tamarack Court in Bemidji, MN with family by her side.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 25th at 11 a.m. at St. Philip’s Catholic Church, Bemidji. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Bemidji.
Lois was born September 7, 1925 in Alida, to Martha Renata Weber and Gerhardt Benson. She was baptized at Lutheran Church of Shevlin, MN. She attended school in Bagley. She married John “Jack” Keith Ward November 21, 1944 in Bagley. Following Jack’s military discharge, they lived in Solway until 1961. From 1961 to 1972 they lived in Wilton. Then they moved to Bemidji and spent their winters in Mission, TX.
Lois and Jack owned Jack’s Supper Club in Wilton for 21 years. She also worked at Super 8 Motel and Holiday Inn hotel and restaurant. She enjoyed spending time with family, including grandchildren and great grandchildren, cross country skiing and bridge.
She is survived by sons; Wayne (Jackie) of Virginia, and Charlie (Anne) of Bemidji and daughter Diane “Sam” (Randy) Nolte of Norwood Young America; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Gerhardt and Martha, husband Jack, sisters: Phoebe, Marie, Carole, Leane and son, Daniel.
