LeeRoy Tobey Obituary

LeeRoy Randall Tobey, age 89, of Bemidji passed away at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center on November 6, 2022.

A private family graveside service will be held.

LeeRoy was born June 6, 1933, in Bemidji, Minnesota to Melvin and Frances (Ruzicka) Tobey.  He attended Bemidji High School and participated in further schooling in the service.  He then attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis for electrical trade. LeeRoy served his country in the Army from 1954 to 1956.  He married Audrey Trepanier on July 7, 1960, in Bemidji.  They welcomed two children, Cindy and Gary.  A hard worker his entire life, LeeRoy owned rental properties for over forty years.  He made wreaths and flocked trees for Tabors Bait during the holiday season. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Lakehead Pipeline and Great Lakes Gas until his retirement.  LeeRoy and Audrey loved to travel. They spent winters in Florida after retirement.  He enjoyed going to casinos and attending country music festivals including Hodag in Rhinelander, WI and WeFest in Detroit Lakes, MN. He was also an excellent cook. LeeRoy loved his grandchildren dearly, spending time with them and attending their activities. A special memory with his grandchildren was making them pancakes.

LeeRoy is survived by his wife, Audrey, daughter Cindy (Jody) Borowski, son, Gary (Amy) Tobey, grandchildren Bobbi Borowski, Bo Borowski, Ty Tobey and Austyn Tobey, siblings, Nancy Savard, Bruce (Cathy) Tobey and Richard (Vicky) Tobey.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Donna McDermond, brother, Melvin Tobey, Sr, brother-in-law, Dave Savard and sister-in-law, Jean Tobey.
