Karen Louise Pierce (née Knudson), aged 83, passed away on September 5, 2024, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Born on April 18, 1941, in Becida, Beltrami County, Minnesota, Karen was a master of all crafts, bringing her creative visions to life with unmatched skill and passion.
Karen found her greatest joy in her family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Lem, and their children: Tammy and her husband Paul and son Timothy. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren-Tiffany and her husband Travis, Brynda, Daryl and his wife Emily, Devyn and her husband Dean, Deana and her husband Jeff, Derek and wife Ellen, Dylan and his wife Crystal, and Damen, Chrissy, and Jessica -great-grandchildren Jenny, Hunter, Dawson, Austen, Isla, Thad, Essa, Raymond, Alexander, Allysa, Kayla, Leilani, Ava, Lucy, and Walter. Karen also leaves behind her siblings Lila, Sandra and her husband John, and brother Alton, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Rose Louise Knudson; sister Alta Bunch; brother Jerry Knudson; and grandson Joseph Pierce and great grandson, Aliek Markiewicz.
Karen's hobbies were as vast as her talents, excelling in every craft she took on. She leaves behind a legacy of creativity and love for the arts. But, most of all her love of family.
Honoring her wishes, Karen did not want services but hoped to be remembered for her wonderful spirit, love of family and joyful laugh. Contributions in memory of Karen can be made to the American Diabetes Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or by planting a tree to continue her legacy of growth and renewal.
The Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home in Bemidji, Minnesota, is assisting the family during this time.
