Juliana “Julie” Mathilda Hentges Hommerding , age 96 of Bemidji, MN died Thursday May 24, 2018 at Goldpine Home, Bemidji after a brief illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at St. Philips Catholic Church, Bemidji with Fr. Chuck Huck officiating. Visitation will be for one hour before the service on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery under the direction of the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home.
Julie was born August 8, 1921 in Cold Spring, MN to John and Anna (Berle) Hentges. She attended school in Eden Valley until the family moved to Blackduck, MN, in 1936. She met Gregor Hommerding of Guthrie and they were married in Blackduck on October 12, 1940. They made their home at their family farm near Guthrie and resided there until 2001 when they moved to Cottage Park Apartments in Bemidji. They lived there for 16 years before Julie moved to Wind Song for two years. She was a member of St. Philips Church and the Eagles Auxiliary and a past member of the Guthrie Homemakers. She was a charter volunteer of St. Philips’ Clothing depot. She enjoyed sewing and hand work, reading and was an avid whist and bridge player.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann (Wayne) Hagen of Wadena, sons, Gregory (Karen) Hommerding of Laporte and Donald Hommerding of Laporte, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gregor in 2002; her parents; a granddaughter, Tina Roberts; daughter-in-law, Sue Hommerding; brothers: Joe, Roman, Victor, Cyril, Leander and John and sister, Theresa Theisen.
