Judy Kay (Papp) Hayes

Judy Kay Hayes, 78, of Bemidji, MN passed away peacefully at Sanford Medical Center Bemidji on Friday, November 22, 2024.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji.

Judy was born to Martin and Martha (Coultas) Papp on August 24, 1946, in Bemidji, MN.  She attended Bemidji High School. Judy married Ronald Hayes in 1970.  They made their home in Bemidji and welcomed their first son, Brian, in 1972.  Their second son, Scott, was born in 1980.  Judy assisted her sister in her daycare business for many years before becoming a bus monitor for the Bemidji School District.  She enjoyed finding treasures at rummage sales, going to the races, and listening to music. Judy moved to Havenwood Care Center just prior to Ron’s death and enjoyed attending church services, playing Bingo, and socializing with other residents and caregivers.  She particularly enjoyed visits with her grandchildren, her brother, Andy, and her sister-in-law, Pam.

Judy is survived by her son, Scott (Dawn) Hayes of Grand Rapids, MN; grandchildren Bryce Hayes of Rochester, MN and Addie and Grant Hayes of Grand Rapids, MN; and brother Andy (Pam) Papp of Bemidji; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ron, son Brian, and siblings Martin Papp Jr, Mary Ann Papp and Marlyce Skogen.

Judy’s family would like to thank the staff at Havenwood Care Center for their wonderful care over the years.
