Joseph "Joe" Eugene Mayberry

Joe Mayberry of Bemidji died on December 7th, 2024 at age 44 at the Sanford Hospital of Bemidji. He was born in Minneapolis, MN to Gordon and Bert (Sigette) Mayberry. He graduated Bemidji High School, Class of 1999 as MN's Heavyweight Wrestling Champion followed by a year of college. 

At age 14, he started working with Ben Stowe DJing, providing security, whatever RFC Music Productions needed. At age 23, Joe took a tour of the US working as a line worker. At age 24, he went to Malaysia, just in time for the tsunami in the Indian Ocean. He stopped to eat on his way to the beach and, luckily, missed the wave. At age 25, he had a massive stroke that took out his right side and his ability to read, write and speak but he didn't give up. He decided he was going to walk. So he did. He then decided to drive. So he did. It took three years but he never gave up, despite having seizures. Joe battled the effects of the stroke for 19 years, all the while he remained a nice guy. He was kind to everyone. Never complaining about all that he lost.

Joe's father passed in 2009. Joe is survived by his mother, Bert Mayberry, his sisters, Jaleah Dean, and Jeana (Bryan) Johnson. Nieces, Katchaya Davidson, Killian and Peyton Dean, Jaleah and Ilyanna Mix. Nephews, Kristopher Davidson, Mason Dean, and Breven Johnson.

He was loved by his Dad's companion of many years, Pattie McIntyre, his aunt Opal, and Uncle Billy Hanson.

A Rememberance Service will be held Jan. 15th, 2025, from 2 - 4PM, at Olson Schwartz Funreral Home in Bemidji.
