Joelene Claire Kruger, 79, of Bemidji, MN died Monday, December 13, 2021 at Tender Hearts Assisted Living, Blackduck.

Joelene was born on September 27, 1942 in Devils Lake, ND to Joseph and Virginia (Stenseth) Benson. She grew up in Crary, ND until the age of 10 and then moved to Bemidji and attended Central Elementary School, graduating from Bemidji High school in 1960.
On June 24, 1961 she married Darrell Kruger, celebrating their 60th anniversary this last year. They took many trips and did everything together. They were always each others best friend. After marrying, they moved to North Carolina where Darrell was stationed and two years later a son, Mark, was born and shortly passed after. In 1964 they moved to East Grand Forks, ND where a daughter, Lori, was born in 1966. Joelene was a homemaker by trade always cooking and baking for her family and others. Canning produce from their garden always filled their pantry. She also sewed many clothes, blankets and barbie clothes for Lori. She attended many meetings and assemblies over the years at the Kingdom Hall in Bemidji and loved her god Jehovah very much. Always babysat many kids throughout the years, she loved children and they loved her back and still do. Family was everything to her. She was very close to her parents and her and her brother, Tom, visited every single day. Son-in-law, Aaron, and her teased each other all the time, always ending it with a hug. Daughter, Lori, had each others back, and was Lori’s biggest fan in life. Joelene had many granddogs and grandcats over the years. Most recently was two labs, Merle and Cody, who she referred to as her “babies”. She lit up when the assisted living house let them visit one more time.
She is survived by husband, Darrell; daughter, Lori (Aaron) Comstock and brother, Thomas Benson.
She is preceded in death by mother, Virginia (2010); father, Joseph (1990); son, Mark (1963) and many aunts and uncles.
