Joanne was born in Bemidji, MN to her parents Rudolph & Alice Cloose of Pinewood, and she graduated from Bemidji High School in 1959. In fifth grade, she began a life-long friendship with a pen pal from England (Heather Masters) which she treasured for over 70 years.
Travel was one of Joanne’s favorite activities and she lived in many states, including Hawaii. After retiring from Cub Foods, she took an Alaskan cruise and caught King crab, and visited New York to see the Statue of Liberty and visit the September 11th Memorial. A favorite annual Thanksgiving trip was with her son to nearby casinos for slots and the best buffet.
Joanne was a volunteer for Northwoods Caregivers as a volunteer driver and awarded Volunteer of the Year. When Joanne’s mother resided at Neilson Place, she volunteered, serving ice cream and assisting residents with meals. Hobbies included, crocheting, baking, rescuing wilted household plants, solving jigsaw puzzles, and playing the slots.
She worked for Minnesota Woods for many years making Christmas wreaths and spoke fondly of her co-workers and Friday lunches.
The thing she cherished most was her grandchildren, Adam Hinchliff, Nicholas Hinchliff, Justin Jernigan, Noah Skramstad, and Joshua Jernigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Dale, & Richard (Dick). She is survived by her brothers Dennis (Bonnie) Cloose, Dean (Shirley) Cloose, Donald (Elvera) Cloose.
