Jimmie L. Shepard age 80, of Bemidji MN passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family March 7, 2022.
A memorial service will be held April 30, 2022 at 12:30 pm at Bethel Lutheran Church 5232 Irvine Ave, Bemidji MN 56601. A burial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, on 22nd and Bemidji Ave, Bemidji MN where Jimmie will be laid to rest alongside his beloved wife Carol and daughter Marcie Kay.
Jimmie was born in Pine River, MN to Howard Lester Shepard and Margaret Louise (Hunt) Shepard who raised their family of 9 children until Howard’s death in December of 1957. The older siblings shared the duties of helping their mother raise the family. Jim had many fond memories of his brothers and sisters. Older sister Mary Weathermon, Younger siblings Howard L. Shepard, Nancy (Dennis) Gustafson, Sue (Bob) Rutledge, Karen (Larry) Robertson, Mike (Anne) Shepard, Kathy (Emit) Taylor, Benny Shepard. In 1962 Jim’s mother re-married Clarence Krumrey together they raised his half-siblings Randy Krumrey, Kristy (Rich) Hanson, Margie (Todd) Tollefson.
On November 3, 1962 Jimmie married Carol Elaine Charon. Daughter of Edwin & Hazel Charon Bemidji, MN. Carol graduated high school May of 1963. Soon after they started their family with first child, Michaelle, followed by Melissa, Marcie, and William. Throughout their first years of marriage, they owned B&J Blacktop company. Later moving to Bemidji in 1978 establishing family operated Beltrami Recycling Inc. currently owned by their son. In his spare time Jimmie enjoyed building and remodeling homes with his son Will, and fishing Bemidji area lakes.
Jimmie and Carol valued spending time with their family, Michaelle (Dan) White their children, and 4 great-grandchildren, Melissa and her son Kayleb, Marcie Kay until her passing in 1991, William (Crystal) Shepard and their two children. Together until Carols passing in 2013, they enjoyed fishing, traveling, visiting casinos, historical landmarks, and national parks throughout the US.
The last year of Jimmies life was spent at home being cared for by his son, brother Howard, daughters, and other supportive family members & friends. His care was supervised by Sanford Hospice Home-Care and private nursing staff. All who made his remaining time pleasant, peaceful, and comfortable.
Jimmie is preceded in death by his beloved wife Carol, daughter Marcie Kay, his parents, mother and father-in-law, sister Sue, nephew Dale Roberts, all residents of Bemidji MN and nephew Bob Rutledge Jr of Eagan, MN and Great-Nephew Ayven Jayce Shepard also of Bemidji.
