Jeanette Vogt (Thorson) went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully in the early morning of October 28, 2021 at Autumn Hills in Bemidji, MN where she had been lovingly cared for the past year by staff and family members.
Jeanette E. Mullin was born on November 7, 1934 on her parent’s farm near Blooming Prairie, MN to David James Mullin and Mary Katherine (Beck) Mullin. At the age of 4 she moved with her family to the Becida, MN area to farm, which was the community where she resided until November of 2020. On November 27, 1954 Jeanette was married to Chancey H. Vogt and moved 1 mile away to his farm. She jokingly told family that the first of 6 babies was born 9 months and 15 minutes later. She was married to Chancey until his death in March 1985. Jeanette was also married to Scott Thorson from 2002 until his death in June of 2006.
Faith, love of family and friends, community, and the agricultural life, were truly important aspects of Jeanette’s life. She was an active member of Evangelical Free Church of Bemidji. She was a 4-H leader, and a Sunday School teacher. She loved to cook dinners and bake, which always made birthdays and holidays extra special. In earlier years, having her nieces and nephews over to spend time with family and cousins was very important to her. One of the joys of Jeanette’s life was her best friend and neighbor for many years, Carol Wettschreck.
Jeanette was employed throughout her life with different businesses including Minnesota Wood Products and Perkins Plants. She worked as a respite care worker for her beloved niece. She was employed as a personal nanny and caretaker of the elderly. She was always ready to lend a helping hand with her grandchildren. Through the years many of them would get off the bus at her home to spend the afternoon with her. Jeanette loved to teach her grandchildren how to bake. She loved crossword puzzles, painting and drawing, gardening and canning, classic country and gospel music. Sharing her faith with family and grandchildren was of great importance to her.
Jeanette was preceded in death by both parents and both husbands; siblings, Doris (Albert) Hill, Jim (Alice) Mullin, Dick (Marlene) Mullin and Elaine (Joe) Fraune; son-in-law, Ken Scholz; brother-in-law, Albert Hill; sisters-in-law, Ione Norby and Lurene Drews and infant son, Steven.
