It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jared Lee May.

Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 3, 2025 at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jared Lee May.

He was born in Minot ND on February 20, 1986, to Sheri Hoffman. He was adopted as an infant by Steve and Renae May. He spent the early part of his childhood in Fargo, North Dakota and then his family moved to Bemidji MN where he graduated from Bemidji High School. He pursued careers as a chef and later in drywall construction.

Jared loved fishing, hunting, farming and waterskiing. Essentially anything that allowed him to get outdoors brought him happiness. Jared took great pride in his family, especially his nieces and nephews. Jared was a big kid at heart and lived his life as a kind, selfless human being. Jared’s laugh was infectious, when he was laughing everyone in the room was laughing or had a smile on their face.

Jared was an amazing father to his children Jade, Brody and Payton. He was thoroughly enjoying the transition into a grandfather to Luca, Jade’s son. Jared truly loved spending time with all of his family, always sure to give hello and goodbye hugs along with taking numerous photos.

Jared is survived by his wife Kirsten and children Jade, Brody and Payton. His parents Steve and Renae May. Sisters, Lindsey (Jeremy) and their children Braeden, Miley, Brady and Bella. Sister Ashley (Ritchie) May. Heather Peterson and her son Ryder along with brother Danny (Sam) and their boys Wilder and Bridger. Daughter Jade (Timmy) and Grandson Luca. Biological Mother, Sheri Peterson and her mother Shirley Hoffman and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Father-in-law Gary (Janet) Huewe, Brothers-in-law Brandon (Khristina) and Kyle (Amanda) and son Jonathon.

Jared is preceded in death by Grandparents, Rose and Winifred May, Orville Bratvold, Joyce and Don Paulson, Lawrence Hoffman. Mother-in-law, Michelle Huewe and numerous aunts and uncles and cousins including Tyler Jangula- his partner in crime growing up. Along with in-law Grandparents Polly Huewe, Gary and Doreen Zimdahl, and Aunt Heidi Huewe.
