James Fredric Myre

James Myre, 89, of Bemidji, MN died Monday, September 30, 2019 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 7, 2019 at First Lutheran Church, Pastor Corey Fuhrman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Oneota Cemetery, Duluth at a later date.

James Frederic Myre was born August 4, 1930 in Duluth, MN to Arthur & Ellen Myre.  He grew up and graduated from Denfeld High School in 1949.  After high school, he entered the US Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1954.  Jim enrolled at the University of Minnesota-Duluth where he completed his associate’s degree.  On June 15, 1957, he married Dorothy Anderson in Duluth.  Jim worked for the railroad for a short time before joining Century Motor Freight where he would work for the next 23 years.  His final work came as a realtor in the Bemidji area. He was a long time member of the Lions Club and American Legion. Jim enjoyed camping, traveling, golfing and square dancing with Dorothy.  In his spare time you could always find him tinkering and fixing things around the house or for others.  His sense of humor and the sparkle in his eye endeared him to many.

Jim is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughters, Carol (Bob) Ford, Susan (Ron) Stahl, and Dawn (Bob) Kreft; grandchildren, Helena (Jay) Ford, Nathan (Jessa) Ford, Tony (Holly) Merschman, Michelle (Karl) Stenzel; Laura (Taylor) Bergstrom, Matthew Kreft and Ryan Kreft; 8 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack; sister, Joyce Gerard.
