Ira Dean Smith, 69, of Red Lake, crossed over to the spirit world on Sunday, January 18, 2026.
Ira was born at the Red Lake Hospital on April 21, 1956. The youngest child of Melvina (Lussier) Smith and Paul L “Snuffy” Smith. He lived his entire life on the Red Lake Reservation.
Ira enjoyed many things in his life such as music and dancing. He had fun going to the casino to play his three (3) numbers on Keno. Superman, Spiderman and Batman were Ira’s superheroes. He enjoyed his TV shows especially the Young and the Restless, Hawaii 5-0, Bluey and Judge Judy. Ira traveled extensively with his mother and dad and always looking forward to spending his winter months in Yuma, AZ.
Ira is survived by his mother Melvina, sisters Georgia (Kip) Gebeck, Marsha Boldt, Neddy (Jim) Maher, Paula Cotter and Romelle Smith; brother Paul “Smokey” (Norine) Smith along with many nieces and nephews.
Ira is preceded in death by his “Faller” Paul L “Snuffy” Smith, nephew Jackson Gebeck, brother-in-law Rollie Boldt (his hero) and special cousin Joe Bee.
Funeral services will be held at a future date in April 2026.
