Harry Paul Stilwell was born on March 30, 1934, in Bemidji Minnesota to William and Lila Stilwell. He passed away October 11, 2025.
He was raised in the Bemidji area before moving out west to Moses Lake, Washington and then Rochester, Indiana where he graduated high school before returning to Laporte Minnesota.
He attended Oak Hills Christian Training School where he met Delverna Elliott, they were married on December 5, 1958, following two years of service in the Army. Their family grew to include seven children.
Harry worked as a self-employed carpenter most of his life as well as hauling canoes, driving bus for Laporte and Cass Lake and doing signs for the DNR. He worked as a janitor for Laporte school and in later life as a night worker for Cass Forest Products until his retirement in 2004. Harry and Delverna also owned the Laporte Café which they operated for 17 years.
Harry was actively involved in Laporte Community Bible Church for many years helping with maintenance, working with the youth and taking many kids to camp at Camp Joy. He then attended Guthrie Community Bible Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, 5 brothers, grandson James, son in laws Allen and Lonnie.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Delverna, Daughters Linda (Perry) Eisenbarth, Beverly (Bob) Gates, Connie Stilwell, Brenda Davis, Janet Sorrell. Sons Jon and Mike (Amy). Brothers Steve and Jim, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Service will be October 25, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Guthrie Community Bible Church. Interment will be at Lakeport Cemetery.
