Ginger Hubbell Obituary

Ginger Hubbell, 87, of Bemidji died Thursday, October 1, 2020 at her home.

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Frohn Eastside Cemetery, Bemidji.

Ginger Jahnene (Swenson) Hubbell was born April 19, 1933 in Mapleton, Minnesota to Robert and Virginia Swenson. The family moved to Bemidji when Ginger was 2 months old and settled on Swenson Lake. She attended Swenson Lake School, a one room schoolhouse where she completed 4th and 5th grade in one year. She attended Bemidji High School grades 9–12 and graduated in 1950, sixth in her class, one year ahead of schedule.

Ginger met Roy Hubbell in high school and they attended youth group activities together at Carr Lake Bible Chapel. They were married in Bemidji on November 24th, 1950.

Ginger worked at JC Penney as a window dresser for a short time after graduation. She was a homemaker for many years, raising 6 children. After Roy’s death in 1987, Ginger entered the workforce. She worked at Arrow Printing, Beltrami County Courthouse in the records department, and did child care for a family friend for several years until the children entered school. At that time she became a substitute paraprofessional in the Bemidji School District, where she remained employed until 2014 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Ginger fought the good fight and survived 5+ years of cancer. In December 2018, she suffered a stroke and continued to fight to regain her strength and mobility. In August 2020, she came down with pneumonia and was unable to continue her fight. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on

October 1, 2020. One thing that stood out to family and friends about Ginger was her incredible ability to remember the birthdays and anniversaries of her vast extended family.

Ginger is survived by her 6 children: William (Bill) Hubbell of Bemidji, Diane Hubbell of Bemidji, Don (Gail) Hubbell of North Platte, Nebraska, Renee (Robert) Lunde of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Sandra (Robert) Tanner of Dassel, Minnesota, and Shirley (Don) Spragg of Becida.

Also survived by lifelong friend Vollie Grover of Bloomington, Minnesota.

Ginger is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and her 8 siblings: Robert, Sylvia, Chuck, Bonnie, Helen, Lauree, David, and Jill (Christy). Ginger was preceded in death by Roy A Hubbell (husband), Robert and Virginia Swenson (parents), Marian Trepanier (sister), and Kristofor Tanner (grandson).

The family appreciates the loving care given to Ginger by her granddaughter, nurse Andrea Beckstrand. Without her, it would have been much more difficult.

In lieu of flowers, Ginger would like donations to be made to one of the following:
