George Russell “Moke” Holstein
September 19, 1944 – July 21, 2020
Moke passed away on July 21, 2020 at the Jourdain-Perpich Extended Care Center, Red Lake, Minnesota. He graduated from Red Lake High School in 1962. After which he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served and was honorably discharged on April 21, 1967. His service time was spent at Lackland AFB in Texas, March AFB in California and during the Vietnam era was stationed at the Guam AFB as a mechanic crewman for B52 bombers. After returning home, he was employed as a carpenter for most of his life. He was a member of the Red Lake VFW and 3-Star Warrior Society.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Juanita Holstein, his sister Carol (Preston) Holland and his former wife Sandra (Defoe) Holstein. He is survived by his daughter Anita Marie Lussier (Red Lake), his son Jeremy Wallace Holstein (Minneapolis), his sisters June Holstein (Red Lake), Florine Prentice (Red Lake), Karen Bedeau (Bemidji), Ann (Herb) Thunder (Walker), his brother, Wallace Holstein (Red Lake), and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private service for family and friends will be held at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 am on Friday, July 24, 2020 with Father Jerry Rogers, officiating. Followed by a burial service at 1:00 pm at the Redby Community Cemetery.
