George Clay, 85, of Bemidji, MN died Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Sanford Medical Center, Bemidji.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, MN with Pastor Mike Nelson officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Malvik Cemetery, rural Bemidji.
George Helmer Clay was born in Nary, MN on May 29, 1937, to Albert & Karna Clay. He grew up and worked on the family farm which has been in the family since 1890. He met and married Lavonne Tryon on October 1, 1955, at the Nary Community Church. While working on the farm, George also worked as a salesperson for Aslesan Foods and then Helmer Foods. In 1991, they purchased Elpine Village Mobile Home Park and have been helping operate it since. George enjoyed working on his antique tractors and spending time in Branson, Missouri in the fall of the year.
George is survived by his wife, Lavonne; son, Donald (Johanna) Clay; daughter, Cindy (Todd) Mistic; grandchildren, Matt Mistic Tyler (Kayla) Mistic, Hillary (Derek) Clay-Anderson, and Guy (Marisha) Clay; great grandchildren, Ulysses, Desmond, Abraham, Roan, and Lennon; sister, Carol (Herb) Kludt. He is preceded by his parents, sister, Eleanor Berg.
