Frances Mary (Schultz) Arthur

Frances “Fran” Arthur was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  She passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at the age of 87.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 31, 2021, at St. Philip’s Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service at church.

Frances Mary was born August 16, 1933 to John and Madeline (Verhasselt) Schultz in St. Charles, IL.  She moved through several cities with her former husband, Charles Arthur, before settling in Bemidji, MN in 1973.  In Bemidji, Fran owned the 71 Bar for a time before moving on to work in the bakery at Super John’s Food 4 Less and then to serve as caregiver.

Fran was very proud of her family, and her greatest joy came from spending time with them.  Along with her precious family time, she enjoyed simple pleasures in life such as playing cards, sharing a good meal, and conversations over coffee with friends.

She is survived by her children, Kimberley (Terry) Sande and Charles (Jennifer) Arthur; granddaughters, Tara (Brad) Hall, Kristin (Joe) Polo, and Sierra (Joe) Leitner; great-granddaughters, Brooke, Taylor, and Ailsa; sister, Lil Feltgen; several nieces and nephews; and caregiver, Carla Erickson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Madeline Schultz; infant daughter, Kimberly Arthur; son, Scott Arthur; and siblings, Elizabeth Christenson, Anthony Schultz, and Joan Shales.
