Floyd Arthur Tweten

Floyd Tweten, 90, of Laporte, MN died Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 18, 2024 at the Nary Cemetery.

Floyd Arthur Tweten was born June 9, 1934 on the Oase farm in Nary Minnesota to Nels Tweten and Olga Oase Tweten.  Nels worked for the highway department and the family lived various places including Ponemah and Kelliher.  Floyd attended grade school and high school at Kelliher where he played basketball.  He graduated from Bemidji State University.  He also attended the University of Minnesota and was employed as a facility supervisor there.  During those years he taught various styles of dance including ballroom, old time and square dancing.  He and his mother ran Gifts O The Wild on highway 71 south.  They sold local jams and jellies, wild rice, moccasins, and various gift items.  His shop was reviewed in USA Today.  He was the author of a cookbook series widely distributed in the area.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and his close friend Betty Anderson. 

He is survived by several cousins.
