Ethel Walker, 98, of Bemidji, MN died Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 7, 2022 at St. Philip’s Catholic Church. A Time of Sharing will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, May 6, 2022 with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at St. Philip’s Catholic Church. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Bemidji.
Ethel Lorraine Furuseth was born January 16, 1924 in Gully, MN to Peder and Johanna (Fladeland) Furuseth. The family moved to Thief River Falls when she was a little girl where she attended grade school and graduated from Thief River High School. On August 16, 1946 she married James Walker in Houghton, Michigan. James and Ethel moved to Hibbing MN, Grand Rapids MN and eventually started Stewart and Walker, Inc., Architectural Engineering firm in Bemidji which they owned for 40 years. Ethel has been an active member of the St. Philip’s Catholic Church and school community. Ethel was an amazing seamstress and made sure the family had wonderful Halloween costumes from year to year. Spending time with family and friends was Ethel’s happy place.
Ethel is survived by her son James E. Walker, Bemidji, her daughter Colleen (Tim) Falk, she has 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters, Pearl, Evelyn, Myrtle and Nobell; brothers, Paul, Leonard, Norman and Jerry.
Ethel would like all memorials to go to St. Philip’s Catholic School where all of her children, grandchildren and great children attended.
