Ervin "Erv" Levine Blom

Ervin Levine Blom age 77 of Bemidji, MN died on Saturday Oct 23, 2021, from heart complications at Sanford Medical Center. Visitation will be on Wednesday November 3, 2021, at the Eckles Community Center from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will continue at Eckles Community Center on Thursday November 4, 2021, starting at 10:30 a.m. with an hour visitation prior. Interment will be at Eckles Cemetery, with a lunch to follow back at the center.

Ervin was born on November 28, 1943, in Bemidji MN to Robert (Bob) and lone (Burkett) Blom. He grew up in Bemidji and attended Eurgan School in Eckles Township. He graduated from Bemidji High School in 1962. After graduation he attended trade school in Wadena, where he took up welding. He then came home and started driving bus with his dad Bob proud owners of Bloms Bus Service. He shortly later enlisted in the National Guards with his lifelong friend Donnie Wille which they served for a day short of six years. Ervin worked approximately 8 plus years at Bemidji Ready Mix. Ervin farmed his whole life on the family farm, as well as hauling wood. He married Bonnie Halverson on August 19, 1972. They were married for 49 years and worked side by side on the farm. Soon after they had their first daughter Nickie, with their second daughter Ronda to follow 3 1/2 years later. Ervin served on the Eckles town board as Chairman and Supervisor for over 40 years which finally he retired from it. Ervin’s love and passion for everything he done was helping people and being a role model for many, that people could look up to. Whether it was from doing road work for the township, to helping neighbors out, to cutting bee’s, to hauling countless loads of wood to /for people, whether it was to Northwoods or Nuply, it didn’t matter. He would spend many countless hours on the farm with his family and friends visiting to telling stories and working hard, memories that’ll never be forgotten. He was a man that was one of the hardest workers there was working day and night!! Ervin was the type of man with a heart of gold!! He would give the shirt off his back to help someone out in need, and he wasn’t afraid to do any type of hard work either. He could wrestle with a rattlesnake and fight back like a bear with it all ending in a friendship within a short time. Ervin was a true John Deere man from his tractors to his equipment he loved the color green!! He always had the best bus drivers around from the permanent daily drivers to all the sub drivers throughout all the years!!! And his logging trucks over many years were a pure love to him from long late night hauls, to getting stuck in the woods to early morning fixes he wouldn’t have had it any other that was his way of life! From driving bus and becoming owner and operator he drove for 57 years that brought him joy, he then received the Lifetime Service award recognition from the MN Association of transportation. Ervin enjoyed the memories shared with his wife Bonnie and his two daughters Ronda and Nickie as they all worked as a family to help each other out, throughout the years. Ervin also enjoyed working with his son-in-law Lance, and his two grandkids John and Jared that he was proud to work alongside with daily. To his last moments in life when he got to ride with his granddaughter Justice to his doctor’s appointments and got to share great memories over lunch. He was very proud of all his grandkids and great grandkids. From his quick and very busy ways of life Ervin is going to be greatly, and deeply missed by so many!!

Ervin is proceeded in death by his dad Bob and his mom lone Blom, along with his paternal and maternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his son in law Lance Bohlman. He is survived by his wife Bonnie, and his two daughters Nickie and Ronda. 7 Grandkids, and 4 Great Grandkids.
