Elwyn "Pete" Roland Peterson

Elwyn “Pete” Peterson, 84, of Shevlin, MN died Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at his home.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 1, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Debs, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, north of Debs, MN.

Elwyn Roland Peterson was born July 16, 1941 in Snohomish, Washington to Emmett Peterson & Lorraine(Peterson) Thulin.  He grew up and attended school in Litchfield, where he met his future wife Judy at a rivalry game.  They got married October 14, 1961 and had their honeymoon in the one room cabin that was the original building up on Clearwater Lake.  In 1968 they lost their home in Tracy, MN to a tornado.  In 1969 he built the existing log cabin alongside Bert, Lorraine, Billy, John, Larry, Phylis, and Burton to name a few.  Early on he had several beauty stores doing hair, before moving on to construction for a number of years.  Then became a Durango boot salesman where he earned top earner several times.  After retiring they moved up north in 2006 to enjoy the lake life.  In 2011 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary surrounded by friends and family.  He enjoyed deer and elk hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, four wheeling, and a hot cup of coffee(don't you dare put cream in it).   Later in life he enjoyed puzzles, going to the cafe in Leonard and the lumberyard in Clearbrook to visit friends, and chatting with them online.  

He is survived by his daughter Colette Lane of Waconia, MN; Son Cory Peterson of Menagha, MN; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and sister, LaRene Johnson of Dassel, MN. He was preceded in death by his father Emmett, mother Lorraine, brother Larry, and his wife Judy.
